PICA Summer Session 2018:

Program dates: first three weeks of June

  • Tuition for 3-6 credits of coursework.
  • Paris Orientation (welcome meal plus excursions to discover the city)
  • Shared room in apartment or student residency (supplement for single rooms or home stays with French families)
  • two half-day group excursions in Paris region

The program fee covers tuition (3-6 credits, required registration fees, several program activities and excursions. Housing will be in single room dormitories. Please know that if you request a housing placement through PICA, you will not receive details until you arrive in Paris. A cancelation fee may be assessed if a student’s written request to cancel the housing license be approved.

  • 3 credit option: History of Art & Architecture in Paris (required course) + single room housing option: $4,775
  • 6 credit option: Add Digital Photography class + single room housing: $5,250

PICA Program Fall Semester 2018

Late September through mid-December

Included in Tuition Fee:

  • Tuition for up to 15 credits of coursework
  • Paris Orientation (Welcome Dinner plus excursions to discover Paris)
  • First month Pass Navigo for free use of all public transportation in Paris region
  • Museum card offering free entrance to most national museums
  • 2 day trips in Paris region (Versailles, Giverny, Fontainebleau, Provins or others)
  • 1 weekend trip away from Paris (Brittany, Normandy, Champagne regions)
  • 2-3 Cultural activities (musical concerts, Dance performances) per semester
  • Most students will be housed in single rooms at the Fondation des Etats Unis in the Cité Université.

Extra Fees:

  • Optional family homestay with all breakfasts and 3 or 5 dinners per week
  • Optional single rooms in student residence
  • Studio art classes will typically have an additional lab fee to cover art materials provided by class
  • Purchase of some text books are required in some classes

Please know that if you request a housing placement through PICA, you will not receive details until shortly before you arrive in Paris. A cancelation fee may be assessed if a student’s written request to cancel the housing license is received less than two weeks before start of program.

PICA Fall Semester 2018 Program Fee:

15 credit tuition fee and Fondation des Etats Unis single room housing option: $15,995

Extra Costs:

  • Studio arts classes will require an additional lab fee to cover costs of materials (50-125 € per class).
  • Additional Study abroad costs include local transportation costs, meals, laundry, telephone, any independent travel. With the exception of tuition, all costs are estimated and may vary depending on each student’s budget.
  • In addition, student insurance (health and accident) is mandatory and will vary according to individual policies.

Travel expenses before or after the term, and any trips taken during the study period, are not included in this estimate. There are many free cultural events in Paris and students under 26 receive many important discounts. Students enrolled in an art history class will also receive free access to most national museums (Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, Centre Pompidou and others).

Many housing choices are offered. You can request a housing placement made for you by PICA staff or find a place in Paris to live on your own. If you request a housing placement through PICA, your options are a single studio apartment/studette, or a shared apartment with other PICA program students.

Please know that if you request a housing placement through PICA, you will not receive details until you arrive in Paris. A cancelation fee may be assessed if a student’s written request to cancel the housing license be approved.

PICA Spring Semester 2019 Program Fee:

15 credit tuition fee and Fondation des Etats Unis single room housing option: $15,995

Extra Costs:

  • Studio arts classes will require an additional payment of lab fee to cover costs of materials (50-125 € per class).
  • For students not doing a home stay with a French family, they can prepare meals in their residences or eat in student cafeterias for reasonable prices. Otherwise, they can eat in local restaurants, being sure to stay away from pricier tourist districts in Paris to keep prices lower.
  • Additional Study abroad costs include visa application fees, local transportation, laundry, telephone, utilities, and some independent travel. With the exception of tuition, all costs are estimated and may vary depending on each student’s budget.
  • In addition, student insurance (health and accident) is mandatory and will vary according to individual policies.

There are many free events sponsored by the University of Paris (bicycling, theatre, choral groups, etc.). These activities are fun and also serve as an excellent way of meeting French students.
