Paris Winter Study Session 2019 

Program dates: early January (3 weeks)

Program Fee includes:

  • Tuition for 3-6 credits of coursework.
  • Paris Orientation (welcome dinner plus excursions to discover the city)
  • Shared room (2 or 3 per room) in youth hostel or dormitory (supplement for single rooms or home stays with French families)
  • 2 half-day excursions in Paris region
  • Regular visits to museums, historic monuments and various neighborhoods of Paris during class time

The program fee covers tuition (3-6 credits, required registration fees, program activities and excursions. Housing will be in shared rooms either in youth hostel or dormitory. Please know that if you request a housing placement through PICA, you will not receive details until shortly before you arrive in Paris. A cancelation fee may be assessed if a student’s written request to cancel is received more than 30 days before program start.

PICA Winter 2019 Program Fee:

  • 3 credit option: History of Art & Architecture in Paris (required course) + shared housing option: $4,775
  • 6 credit option: add Digital Photography class: $5,250

Paris Study Program Spring Semester 2019

Program dates: mid-February through early-May

Included in Tuition Fee:

  • Tuition for up to 15 credits of coursework
  • Paris Orientation (Welcome Dinner plus excursions to discover Paris)
  • First month Pass Navigo for free use of all public transportation in Paris region
  • Museum card offering free entrance to most national museums
  • 2 day-long trips in Paris region (Versailles, Giverny, Fontainebleau, Provins or others)
  • 1 weekend trip away from Paris (Brittany, Normandy, Champagne regions)
  • 2-3 cultural activities (music or dance performances) per semester
  • Students meeting early deadline will be housed in single dormitory rooms at the Cité Université.
  • Students will receive an official PICA transcript for completed coursework

Not Included:

  • Roundtrip Flight to Paris
  • Meals
  • Personal shopping and travel expenses

Extra Fees:

  • Optional family homestay with all breakfasts and 3 or 5 dinners per week
  • Optional single rooms
  • Lab Fees covering art materials for some Studio Art classes
  • Text books for some classes

The program fee covers tuition for full-time student status covering 15 credits, deposit and required registration fees, program activities and excursions.

Many housing choices are offered. Students on the semester program are usually housed in single occupancy dorm rooms at the Cité Universitaire. As there is limited space, it is advised  that students apply as early as possible to insure space in the dormitory. Other options include Home Stay with French families or double occupancy in student residencies.

Please know that if you request a housing placement through PICA, you will not receive details until shortly before you arrive in Paris. A cancelation fee may be assessed if a student’s written request to cancel the housing license is not received at least 30 days before program start.

PICA Spring Semester 2019 Program Fee:

15 credit tuition fee plus standard housing and activities option: $15,995

Extra Costs:

  • Studio arts classes will require an additional payment of lab fee for art materials used in class (50-125 € per class); humanities classes may require purchase of text books.
  • Additional Study abroad costs include visa application fees, local transportation, laundry, telephone, utilities, and some independent travel. With the exception of tuition, all costs are estimated and may vary depending on each student’s budget.
  • Travel expenses before or after the term, and any trips taken during weekends.
  • There are many free events sponsored by the University of Paris (bicycling, theatre, choral groups, etc.). These activities are fun and also serve as an excellent way of meeting French students.

There are many free cultural events in Paris and students under 26 receive many important discounts. Students enrolled in an art history class will also receive free access to most national museums (Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, Centre Pompidou and others).
